Windsurfing: Shoreham Wind Direction: SW Wind Stength: F6-8 Surf / Sea State: Chest high waves Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: Rainy Max Speed: Distance Covered:
Shoreham was off the dial today, had a 3 hour almost non-stop session.
Arrived just after the first big rain storm at 11:30 and it was all calm
then the sun and wind returned and everyone dashed down again. I rigged 5m
and it was peachy cross shore, but the wind kept building. So switched to
the 4.5m ezzy still on JP RWW83 and had the perfect set up for the next few
hours. From the off, it was down the line galore. Wave size was always boom
high or more except for the occasional tiddler on the inside. Caught some
bigger rides out the back. Wind absolutely howling sideshore with 5-6 foot
vertical ramps and fairly flat water in between. Air time unavoidable.
A second rain squall came through, giving a bit of cross-off for a while
(nice) then dropped fully. It soon came back though with the sun (and more
rain later) probably 30mph wind for the remainder. Some amazing waves
loomed up out the back and I'm not ashamed to say I got nailed going for a
few breaking lips, one complete underwater loop still in the straps.
One of the best ever for me at Shoreham.
